Had a bad day....
OK..so I'm back, guys. Sorry for the long wait. Taking admission in a Delhi University College is surely a helluva task. I mean, it involves so much of running around and getting things signed from different people and standing in queues and waiting for the so-called-professional teachers and principal to arrive at the college, that too, 2.5 hours after the time admissions are supposed to start. OK, so to begin my tale...I went to Hindu College on Thursday, the 12th for getting admitted to the college for B.Sc. Mathematics (Honours) course. I already had got admission in Hansraj College, which is a highly reputed college mainly for its faculty. But, I wanted to get admission in Hindu, because of the fact that Hindu College is one of the 3 oldest and best colleges in Delhi(The other two are St. Stephen's and SRCC) and I know that it would affect my CV a great deal at a later date when I'll be going for interviews and stuff like that. The teacher-in-charge there asked me a question relating to application of Roulle's Theorem..which I obviously did not remember and hence could not answer. By the way, this is no criteria for admitting students to a DU college.First, she was silly to do such a stupid thing. Second, she asked me why have I come to Hindu from such a nice college like Hansraj , and what she said in precise words was : "upar se dimaag khaali hai kya...jo hansraj se idhar aa gaye.." . Now this made no sense to me. I mean, what was she wanting to say..she was plainly insulting the institution SHE belonged to and the institution that paid HER household bills. Third, she had an irritating voice and a highly, mind you, highly irritating style of talking. I tried to be as nice as I could. I even told her that I'm sorry that I did not remember this particular theorem, that I had a lot to learn from her and from the college and even smiled at her highly nonsensical jokes. She asked me which topic would I prefer to be asked a question from. I told her she can ask me anything from the whole of calculus. But then , she continued the examination of previously filled forms and did not look up. I kept on saying, " Ma'am please ask me a question and make this quick" ..but she did not even bother to look up. My dad had been listening to the whole conversation and had been encouraging me to keep my calm and handle her in a polite manner because he says, " These are the kind of people you'll have to deal when you grow up, go into jobs and stuff...so take this in a positive way..think that you are learning something by this." But after an hour of my standing there and literally begging her for the admission form, he got up and asked the teacher for the admission form. And guess what she said : " One of you parents only had requested that I check the previously filled forms first. So, let me complete this first and I'll give you the forms later." Dad had had enough. He raised his voice a bit and said, " You gotta have some discretion in that case...and its logical that you simultaneously give out the forms to these people ( there were 5 of us by the way, trying hard to solve the question) because they'll also need some time to fill 'em up..by the time you'll have finished examining the previously filled form." Now, the teacher was shaken and finding it hard to utter a word after that highly unexpected answer, that too in English with a fluency she would find hard to understand anyway, she threw the forms at me. I said in a crisp tone- "Thank you very much ma'am" and left. I was fuming with anger. I was seething with anger. I was going to blow off any moment. I was mad at the teacher for humiliating me like that. It was the first time in many months that I had got sooooo angry. I came back home. Slept. Had a bad dream(Something about math). Woke up. Did not feel any better. Went out to breathe some fresh air. Had a glass of chilled water. Listened to some music. Felt much better. I was having second thoughts about going to that college as that teacher could probably take revenge by cutting my marks in yearly examinations and possibly, might even ruin my (now-well-planned) career graph. Later in the evening, it was decided that I would meet that teacher the very next day, when I would go to deposit the fee and would apologize for my behaviour and also on my dad's behalf...so that I could kill the slightest of the chance that she might hate me for life and take her revenge. Next day, I went up to her. Apologized. Was forgiven. Now all's well. And though it took me almost half an hour to type in this entry...I feel soooo much better now.

Shocking as it may seem, the college professors actually don't have the capacity to make your life miserable. You probably know that by now, but your mid-sems count as much as your school exams did - not at all. The only exams that matter are the final university exams, and those are conducted somewhat like the Boards, and a Harry Potter-Snape situation is impossible to replicate in DU. And yes DU applications are certainly tiring and anybody who got through the entire admission process without seriously falling sick or punching someone deserves an award.
Hey...i wanna join de collg too..hws it overall? :)
though dis entry din giv a real gud impression :P
